Pretty boring outfit? Not quite. This shirt has a little surprise embroidered on the back. I found this shirt in the ASOS Sale bin and am so glad I got it before it sold out. Also, I wanted to get my last wear out of these leather pants before it got too hot to pull out of my closet.

This past Sunday I celebrated my birthday. I just went out for dinner with my friends, but I wanted to dress up, since I’ve never really done it before. Opting for my usual neutral palette, I pieced together this outfit! The material of this skirt is very stretchy and comfortable, which was a good surprise. To be honest, I was inspired by Kim Kardashian. I’m sure we’ve all seen her wearing midi skirts recently, frequently, and well. Definitely one of my fashion inspirations.

I don’t know what it is, but I’ve been into lace a lot more lately. Here in Chicago the weather hasn’t reached it’s full spring potential, but it’s warm enough for this dainty lace crop top…and my loafers! I’ve missed wearing my loafers so much. The little gold toe just adds so much to an outfit. Girls, if you don’t own a pair of loafers, get one, or three, now!

I can’t seem to stop buying black, not that that’s a problem, per se. This blouse is so loose-fitting, laid-back, and comfortable. It was pretty sheer, so I just paired it with a tank under it. Okay, I have a confession to make…I saw my fave Beyoncé wearing black distressed jeans, so I went out and bought a pair. This may or may not have turned into a get the look for less episode.

I’m so tired of wearing boots but Chicago doesn’t seem to want to give up the winter just yet.

I Lost Angeles
Okay guys! This outfit is giving me..relaxed-cool. This crop top features a pun for Los Angeles, obviously! I liked it because it was so simple, but noteworthy. These distressed jeans may not have stolen the show, but they have been added to my top 5 favorite denim. I’m very particular when it comes to everything clothes-wise and these really just hit the nail right on top of the head. The best part about them was that they were originally $50, but with my 40% off code, it came down to $36! (Yes, I’m a strong advocate for discounts.) My white Converse completed this cool look.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love Kanye West, so I decided to have a outfit dedicated to him. It’s cute, casual, and great for plenty of occasions! The t-shirt is something I picked up from his Yeezus tour in Chicago. The comfortable and convenient leggings are from Boohoo. And these Yeezy Roshe’s are custom.
Yes, that IS Tyra Banks on my shirt. I’ve been lusting after this Dimepiece shirt forever! Bad timing forced me to never be able to purchase it and it eventually sold out, but PLNDR had it for just $20 (a major mark down from it’s original price: $62)! Paired with simple black leggings, I could’ve gone for a pair of black shoes, but that’s so boring! My monochrome red Vans added just that extra umph for this outfit.

This past weekend I went out for a little V-Day fun and decided to dress up a little. I’ve been holding this oversized T-Shirt dress from Missguided for a while and thought I should bring it out. Since the Chicago air is STILL freezing I wore it with thigh-high socks from Urban Outfitters and black timberlands. This outfit is perfect for date-night and other fun outtings. Oh! And for the tall girls this definitely rises so be prepared.
Valentine’s Day Style
When it comes to valentine’s day, it may be cliché to wear anything red, pink, or white, but it’s not totally illegal! So in this outfit I figured why not get in the Valentine spirit with a little pink and white…and rose gold. It may not be weather appropriate, but some tights will do the trick.
Just like Erin, I believe you can never go wrong with wearing the classic Valentine’s Day colors, especially if you add a twist. Skirt and top combos like this can take two turns: casual or dressy, which is shown with the two shoe options above. So ladies go out and get on your model status on V-day, even if it’s just with your girls!
Where do I start with this outfit? Well, this sublimation shirt has become apart of my favorites already! When I was looking for a sublimation tee I didn’t want it to be too much of a statement piece that I could only wear it twice a year, this was perfect for avoiding that. The quality is really nice and it was only $28! On to the bottoms, yes, these are a new pair of leather pants. My other leggings were fine, I just wanted a pair that were more like pants and not leggings. When it comes to what I wear, I always want to be stylish but comfortable, which I’ve mastered here.

Best Dressed of 2013
As we look back there were without a doubt some good looks worn by celebrities. We have ours who have just set the bar, in our eyes, this year.
If you were to search for the definition of bohemian-casual, you’d probably find pictures of Vanessa Hudgens. For press events she takes a day off from her usual style and still kills it. These two white ensembles by Catherine Malandrino put her at the top of my list for the best dressed of 2013. She’s undoubtedlya silent killer when it comes to fashion. - Erin
Ciara has been taking Instagram by storm with her stylish, sleek monochromatic looks. From the red carpet to club appearances, her elegant looks stole the show. 2013 was without a doubt Ci’s year for fashion, inspiring fashionistas from all over, including myself. - Kyra
Music Round-Up: Human/Monster Mike and Dave Amazin
Since this is our first music post of the year, we decided to give you all double the talent. Today we have two songs for you all to listen to, both are from Chicago artists.
Remember The Name - Human feat. Monster Mike
Remember The Name is the second single from Human’s upcoming mixtape, Varsity Blues. "In maintaining the theme of personal growth and independence that the tape is meant to convey, all cover art is drawn by me." All music is also produced and written by Human himself. This song features Chicago native Monster Mike, who is set to release a tape this year. Follow them on Twitter: @humanfunction and @monstermike197.
I Wrote A Song About U - Dave Amazin’
Chicago artist Dave Amazin’ drops a new gem entitled “I Wrote A Song About U”. Dave flips the script and gives his listeners a different side of him; speaking on the topic of love, something they have yet to hear from him. Dave Amazin’ rides the xxyyxx beat with a laid-back flow, smooth metaphors, and also utilizes his storytelling ability all in one. Dave’s second official mixtape More Superficial Shit is scheduled to be released March 2014. Keep up with him on Twitter: @daveamazin
